Hi there,
I find on the Aussie Holdens that the cats are fitted very close to the end of the standard short exhaust manifolds, Cot is there to pretect them from melting down in prolonged lean crusing, like on the highway. When fittng long tube headers and performance cat back exhaust systems, the cats are pushed back away from the end of the headers and sometimes even further if fitting a x pipe after the collectors. In these circumstances I dont have a drama turning off COT. I have seen many speed/d tunes with cot off.Yeah you should make sure your tune is close and keep an eye on things untill your comfortable its all ok. At the end of the day excessive hot lean mixtures will allways cause cats to melt down. Check out your exhaust, pick your mark and consider your enviorment eg: if you live in the desert and you thrash the guts out of it all the time, well, you might tune with it off, but you would have a look at the trims with it turned on, its there for a reason.
anyone else have any info on COT, as this is where Iam at and I would like to have a better understanding myself.
cheers
