Truck dies as soon as it is in gear.

I am helping tuning a xtreme that has put in a 350 from a 4x4 and pcm. The year is 1999 and everything went fairly well. The transmission is the original automatic from the extreme but has shift kit and is refreshed. The issue we are having is when you put the truck in gear, the engine dies. It is like if the transmission was putting on a break that causes the engine to die. I tried giving it some throttle and the same thing happens. If I unplug the computer connection from the transmission the engine stays running and the truck will move. Now the pressures are not right so it is not the greatest moving truck.
I have disabled the TCC lockout and adjusted the transmission for quicker shifts. I have done this before on another truck and had no problem. Oh BTW, I disabled the vehicle antitheft too. I even tried the stock transmission program and same thing.
Any suggestions what it could be? Thanx

The converter is somehow locking up.

but if I disconncect the electronic cable that clips into the transmission the truck will run fine. I don't understand it. Why would it work without the connection and not with it. When we first started with the truck, 3 and 4th gear would not work but it would still move and the engine would not die. We sent it out and there was a broken sprag in the transmission. It had added a shift kit and the whole thing was refreshed. I believe a new torque converter too. It feels like a electronic issue. Is there anything that I can adjust?

you just answered your own questions,,, if you unplug the trans and it runs you have a wiring issue causing the converter to lock up

Can you put a scanner on it and see if the PCM is commanding the converter to lock? Do you have the wiring diagram for the transmission? Maybe remove the pin from the connector that controls lockup. Also--You said that the pressures are off because the truck doesn't move very well. That sounds more like Limp Mode that causes the trans to be in 3rd gear. That is as far as I can help you.

Are you sure the tune and harness is for a 4L60E and not a 4L80E?
What year is the S10 tranny?

The tranny is the orginal that is was in the truck. I believe it is a 4L60E. It is a 99 s10 xtreme. I will have to talk to the mechanic to make sure the wiring is correct. Yes for it going into limp mode. That is what exactly feels like. I will have to go over and put my scanner on it to see what exactly it is doing. Thanx for the ideas.

Disconnected the TCC soloenoid wire from the PCM and that was the problem. Bad PCM. Ordered a new one and getting vehicle VIN put into it. Will I have to use another license from jet to program the new PCM?

Are you sure the TCC solnoid is not the problem? I personally haven't seen alot of failure in these PCM's. I did have to replace one because it wouldn't control IAC

Well we got the new PCM and put it in on saturday. Same thing happens as before. Where is the TCC soloenoid? Will have the mechanic look at it tomorrow.
