Fried the ECM

OK, seems I have fried the computer on my 96Z, any one know if I can correct the problem, I have TunerCat, it did this the other day so I disconnected the battery and then I was able to reprogram, but this time it would not let me. The error codes it gives is, C/2, I/2 and H/16.
C/2 was the first one when it failed the first time, the other two was after I disconnected the battery. Did not lose power or connection. Any one have any ideas.

Not sure on the error codes, but did it fail during flashing? Might have corrupted the flash parts. I can fix if this is what happened. But will take desoldering parts and reflashing on my burner and then put back on.

Then you would have to reflash with your current tune to bring it back to something you can use.

what happen was I was trying to flash another tune, when the computer in the car made a bumping noise then give me the first error code c/2, this happen just like it did the other day, I disconnected the battery waited a while hooked back up and tried again and was able to flash the computer again. Tried to flash another time a new program and it happen all over again but this time disconnecting the battery didn't work, that's when I got the other codes I/2 then H/16 and the computer was making a bumping noise again,, a friend who has 98 model said the computers in the older cars would not take a lot programing, must have been right, I have another computer coming, but if you think you can fix I'll be glad to send to you if it's not very expensive. Let me know and thanks.

connection between the OBDII under the dash to the PCM

96 Camaro 5.7l Lt1. Is there a fuseable link or relay between the OBDII under the dash connection and the PCM in the car, I have another computer now and my program still will not read the PCM nor will my scanner, the car still will not run. like I said the problem came up when I tried to flash a program in, there was a bumping noise that came from the under dash area, I think somewhere in the wiring there is a problem, I have checked the wiring diagram and found nothing in between the units, but there has to be some thing that I have missed or a wire burned in too to keep the laptop and the PCM from talking to each other.
TunerCat if you are there, can the data converter be the problem how can you check the data converter,

Pin 16 of the ADLC connector must have 12 volts circuit which most cases is the same fuse that the cig lighter is on.

I will check that, does it have anything to do with the keyless entry receiver that's what the data connector hooks into.

I do not know anything about that as the ADLC connector has to conform with EPA/SAE pinouts and GM has always met those specs.

If 2 PCMs cannot link with a scanner or tuning tool the 1st place to be the cause can be no voltage on pin 16 or a wiring problem unless the fuses for the PCM are blown.

We can repair your PCM (we desolder, reflash--resolder) for $129 + freight. We can also replace the unit if you prefer.
Sockets tend to fail easily with this 1994-1997 LT1 computers, so we put the chips back in just like the factory did.

I socketed a couple PCM's, wasn't too happy with it (maybe my Automotive background warning signs....). I would not do it again, much happier with soldering direct back down. PLCC's are so solid, sockets are such a pain, I could probably get it off faster without the socket and my tools.... I have a non PCM that the memory sorta jammed in the socket and I never could get it out, cut the crap out of my hand trying... Tossed it....

I would rather keep a spare PCM on hand and just fix the other one later.
