well i went out this morning on a data logging run. got a ton of information. then when i tried to save it the program crashed. GONE! i had a ton of data too i had made it into dam near every box in the ve table that run. dam. ooo well. it still showed me alot and maybe you guys can help me understand it.

i ran speed density and it ran FANTASTICALLY, the best its ever run! the trims were within like 6% the whole time, it was gorgeous! and to top it all of my off idle/off idle stumble was GONE.

this pretty much means that the maf or some maf related parameter is causing all my woes. any ideas? with the maf on the trims go as high as 30% in some places like at idle and BOTH of them are that high short and long!?! any ideas why it would run so fantastically off the map and so terribly of maf?

also i did NOT turn off the maf trouble codes in the computer(tune) will this have in any way voided my test. (only thing i can think of is maybe keeping it from going closed loop)(and i haven't thought that through very well at all so i could very easily be completely wrong on that one)

what maf related parameters should i bee looking at?
and which tranny tables are affected by the maf?

thanks a bunch guys!

ps this week has been nutz so i haven't been able to work on the vb program at all, but in its last iteration V 3 it is running pretty good. i hope to be able to work with it a little Friday and post it up here in the afternoon. (so maybe some of you guys can go tune this weekend!)

The trouble codes won't hurt you(you said you were getting fuel trims also, so you know you were in closed loop).

For your maf table perhaps something like this would help you see what is going on?: (last post attachement, the one about the maf) http://www.s10planet.com/forum/showthread.php?p=59404

You are welcome to edit it or make a new one.

any ideas on what tables i might need to change?

ive been all through jet and i have only found a handful of tables that reference the maf at all (or air flow). i am not positive if i want to modify a maf table at all but it sure seems that way.
because
1. runs great speed density
fuel trims are good (under 6%) and no stumble off idle
2. with maf the opposite, runs ok but bad fuel trims (30%) and off idle stumble/bog
note* the bog only happens when you accelerate gradualy (like a normal driver) perhaps even a little on the grandma side. it does not seem to do it if you romp on it. (pe is working and makes up for the lean condition??!?)

i don't really know what tables to modify if it is the maf (and it looks that way). the maf is clean (cleaned a few months ago) and sends a good and reasonable (at least it seems so to me) signal.

any thoughts on what to try, where to look, or what the problem might be are much appreciated.

i did another data run and it worked good this time. got good data and it seems to be working well. happy to post anything that might help.

I wouldn't mind seeing a maf datalog.

To adjust the maf you would use the airflow Vs. hz table. Sould be in the fueling area, where you would find the ve tables.

ok ill see what i can do about a data log.

i know the table your talking about its one of the ones i looked at. unfortunately my software dose not allow me to record the maf frequency (at least i don't know how) all i got is gm/sec and lb/min. i have pcmscan maybe you know how to do it.

all that said. here is the vb program i have been working on. like i said i haven't had any time to work on it this week so its still pretty rough and is officially in beta. so try it out it should be fairly solid but i know there is still stuff wrong with it. USE COMMON SENSE check the tables before you reprogram ur truck and blow it up! also please let me know about any issues so that i can fix them! thanks and i hope it helps.

Should be able to convert the g/sec to a frequency using the table values? Or you could probably sort according to g/sec.

G/sec, and at least 1 bank long and short fuel trims. It sounds like you will basicaly need to multiply the bottom of the table by a little.

well things didnt go to plan today. i was going to data log on the way to my parents house (house sitting) but my sisters car broke down so i had to go tow her to a shop to have it fixed. so no data logging for me today. i am going to work on the truck some this weekend, so hopefully i can log on the way back and post up.
