Unplug and set codes to type C, no mil. You do lose your knock sensors when you do this. And auto's have trouble with controling line pressure.

so unplug maf set the trouble codes to type c (never seen that before but ill look) and then collect data. then calculate change, reprogram collect data again analyze and repeat as necessary? sound about right?

i do have an auto will everything be ok or do i need to do something extra.

by the way. i have been writing a program in visual basic for the last couple of days that takes the data from a comma separated file (.csv) and calculates the average fuel trim for all of the cells on the main ve table. i don't know if anybody would find this useful but i got it working pretty good today (works perfect actually) and i was able to optimize the code some as well. takes about 30-40 seconds to calculate the average trim for every cell in the table based on about 2000 frames of data. pretty good i think. ne way if anyone thinks it would be useful or wants it let me know.

i don't have it set to apply the changes to a pasted ve table yet but that should be pretty easy to do.

i think i found what you are talking about. under fuel and air diagnostics. there were about 3 things for maf. heres the thing tho not one single box was checked (the bod to the left of the parameter) which i assume enables or disables them. since they are not checked to i need to do anything? should i be worried that they are not checked, and do they need to be?

ps the vb program works in excel

You will know if you set it to the wrong thing, mine doesn't start. If you are planning on keeping the maf you don't even need to worry about it, it just keeps the ses away. The trans will shift hard without the maf. I installed a vacuum modulator to get rid of the problem.

If you are keeping the maf, the maf calibration probably needs to be tweeked a little. On a mostly stock motor the ve table should be good enough. I removed my maf long term, weather or not you want to keep the maf is up to you, some like it some don't. You can make either work.

also i worked on the vb program a little more yesterday. it now takes the existing ve table and modifies it according to the trims.

now all you have to do is paste the info from the scanner/dataloger as a .csv file and paste you current ve table.
it will give you your new ve table all you have to do is paste it back in your tuner program and go!
i want to do a little more testing on it and work out any bugs before i post it up. but it should be here soon! i would say next week for sure.

If you are trying to tune the ve table, then yes, you need to unplug it. To know if the ve table is close you can unplug it, and see what kind of trims you get.
