Roll out date for the 09 Escalade.
What is the importance?
This Tech II will not work on this truck. Camaro1 correct me if I am wrong.

The MDI will do all the Diagnostics that the Tech II did. OK
The MDI is taking over for the Tech II. You will still need the Tech II, but I am under the impression a MDI will do the same job on all cars and trucks.
We are waiting for the software and then we will see

you are correct, so far gm is saying the mdi scanner software will only be for the new vehicles (with the mid speed can bus) and that the tech 2 will still be needed for the 2008 and older vehicles, but a lot of people are saying that gm will later release software updates that will include older models for use with the mdi

kind of like when the tech2 first came out it was only for 1996 and newer vehicles but as later updates came out (and tech1's started to die) they fitted the older obd1 vehicles into there software and now the tech 2 does both

and like AJxtcman said the price is going up soon, get one before they are $1000 or more because it will be needed soon for gm vehicles

for now you can use the mdi for factory re-programming of gm modules with tis software and you can also use any j2534 obd2 software with it for codes and data(on any vehicle 1996 and newer), i have pcmscan and it works fine with the mdi unit with the latest mdi update that just came out a couple weeks ago

mdi unit wireless

hey i was having some trouble getting our mdi's on the wireless. i have set everything up as far the network side goes and i enabled the wireless on the unit. but the computer cannot see the wireless interface. i have made a reservation in dhcp and also assigned a unused ip address within our company's dhcp scope and nothing seemds to work. it enables for a second and then is no longer active and it has a very good signal and no ip conflicts... so ya im stumped.. any suggestions?
